About Me

What the heck am I talking about being a multidisciplinary artist, sartorial maker and photographer? Essentially this is about a girl (full grown woman) who adventures and can’t stop creating things, over many mediums and styles. A camera is involved at some point in every project or day.

I travel for photography, but explore my own hood and geographical area as much as I can. When I’m feeling brave I head up into the mountains. Mountains and cliffs are one of 3 parts to my die dream, so I prefer their stoic protection from the valley!

The sartorial maker in me is the tailored clothing inspired by my photography. I adore the mental challenge of transforming 2D to 3D in garment construction and designing an article of clothing that reflects the image and fabric. The quietness of making a piece of clothing by hand is also a very satisfying event for me.

Creating clothing and developing my personal style has been a major personal growth road for me. You really have to connect with yourself. From how you see yourself to who you actually are to be successful in your clothing. There are no lies when you take measurements and it really is our own fingerprint in pattern making. Self acceptance, as hard as it is, happens when you create clothing for yourself.

Inspiration

Inspiration to make comes to me in many forms and from so many places. I love getting down in the muck of a new twist on something old and possibly making a portion of that my own. When a heart is really in ‘it’ something magical happens and that is the chase for me. Connecting with something enough to create my version of it to share is the prize.

I push myself to move beyond the pedestrian with constant experimentation. Almost too much experimentation. I do need to roll back and stick with one form once in awhile.

Learning

When I get frustrated because I’m holding myself back to learn the ‘thing’ well, weird things happen. During an art class where I was supposed to be copying the instructor’s example for making birch trees and masking for effect, I clearly had trouble following rules and someone else’s style….. So what happens? I give them the ol’ razzle dazzle! Oh ya!

So if bending in all the ways, growing through art and creation and travelling to places through a camera and traditional skills and arts is your thing? Well this is the place for you.

When you need a break from trying to please the world and not react to a constant judgment when you don’t follow the societal norm? This is the place for you.

Curiosity

How other artisans create their whole world to support their art and existence is fascinating to me. How others see things and share them in their POV is extraordinary. When people succeed carving out their own way is the very best thing for me to witness.

The world can be a very thoughtful and lovely place. My goal is to be a very small part of that piece of it. Here are my little expressions. Please get in touch with me with your thoughts and discoveries. I’d love to hear from you. Let’s light that fire!
