An Abstract Image of Light in the Dark.

Document your Year. 52 Week Photography Challenge.

Sometimes it’s hard to keep motivated or keep on top of the steady work we need to do to develop and produce our lovely images in photography. Many of us are better with a solid plan to challenge ourselves with different little projects that stretch and grow us as photographers.

I found this challenge list on Instagram. I am sorry to say I can’t remember the woman photographer who posted it originally and it was now a few years ago. There’s a tickle in my brain that says her handle was 52 week photography challenge…. in some manner. There are a lot of them out there, and some are pretty cute. This one does not include favourite colours or outfits, but feel free to try that if you’re inspired that way.

ANYway, so here is a working list that I had planned to do, and as we are coming up on week 1 of 2025, this is something to prepare to do for the next year! It will be even more interesting to see how it fits in with my photography travel plans. My head is starting to twirl.

When it comes to my photography, I do switch between cameras, and film depending on my mood, and sometimes 2 in tandem as they produce such a different effect. I switch to lenses that get ignored and I try to pick a technical thing to focus on with each session. This makes sure that I don’t just produce a lot of the same old same old. Dare to be different, right?

Make this challenge as simple or as complicated as you wish, and please share your images! Email me your Instagram Handle so I can follow along, or your image of the week as you wish. hello@sobocreative.ca
